What's the best place to remind ourselves why protecting our climate is so important?
Well, for me, it's sitting in the garden (in the rare sun!) admiring the views of Yorkshire's rolling hills and beautiful tree lines all around me (so that's what I'm doing while writing this blog).
It's when we remember why protecting our environment is so important that we get the impetus to do something about it.
Sustainability is more than just a buzzword—it's a responsibility we all share. And sustainable marketing isn't just an option; it's the way forward.
While print marketing has long been recognised as a sustainable choice (despite attempts on the contrary via greenwashing), you can take it a step further by using carbon-balanced printing.
This means your direct mail, leaflet distribution, and general paper-based print can now contribute to a healthier planet in a more significant way.
Carbon balancing involves offsetting (balancing) the carbon emissions produced during the printing process by supporting environmental projects that reduce an equivalent amount of carbon dioxide.
This practice is part of the World Land Trust's efforts to preserve critically threatened habitats and biodiversity worldwide. With Sir David Attenborough as the head patron, you know they must be doing something pretty special!
When you choose carbon-balanced printing, you're not only minimising your carbon footprint but also actively contributing to vital conservation projects. This sustainable practice provides numerous benefits:
- Environmental Impact: By balancing emissions, you help to protect and restore forests that absorb CO2, thus combating climate change.
- Biodiversity Preservation: Your support helps safeguard countless species' habitats, ensuring ecological balance and diversity.
- Corporate Responsibility: Demonstrating your commitment to sustainability enhances your brand's reputation and aligns with the values of environmentally conscious consumers (which are only going one direction)
It's a common misconception that digital marketing is inherently greener than print. However, the reality is often quite different. The digital world relies heavily on energy-intensive data centres and electronic waste, which can have a substantial environmental impact.
In contrast, print—especially when sourced sustainably and balanced for carbon—is a renewable and recyclable option that can be far more eco-friendly.
This is a sizeable and controversial subject, so we partnered with Two Sides and utilised their resources to create a Myths & Facts page.
Something Sustainable: A Double Impact
When you partner with Greener Mail for your print-based marketing needs, you're positively impacting our climate.
Every job with us finishes with a certificate highlighting your sustainability contribution (the m2 of habitat protected and restored and the kg's of CO2 balanced).
Additionally, you can feature green credential logos on your marketing materials at no extra cost, which demonstrates your commitment to the environment.
What does all this mean to your ROI? What is your bottom line? Well, suppose you receive two flyers from similar businesses. In that case, a great differentiator is whether or not they demonstrate any care for sustainability. Subtle differences can have a profound difference.
